Chesterton, IN-Lake Erie Land Company's Coffee Creek Center was featured in the June issue of Urban Land magazine for its environmental sustainability and mixed-use design principles. Urban Land magazine is the monthly journal published by the Urban Land Institute.
The article recognized Lake Erie Land Company for the ecological restoration and hydrological reengineering that has been underway at Coffee Creek Center for the past two years. The article highlighted the restoration of Coffee Creek's 180-acre preserve that has been designed to link all components of the community together. Throughout the preserve are overlooks, trails and boardwalks to be enjoyed by all. Lake Erie president, Jerry Mobley, stated in the article,"What is impressive about this development is the hydrology of the site. Here, water is treated as an asset and an amenity to be taken care of in a conservation design that uses stormwater management to restore the land's original water flow." Coffee Creek Center is slated for up to 2,000 residential units and over 3 million square feet of commercial, office and retail space. For more information, please visit www.coffeecreekcenter.com.
