Mobley Elected to Chicago District Golf Association Board

Chesterton, IN - Kelle Mobley, Director of Operations at Lake Erie Land Company and member of Sand Creek Country Club, was one of six new members recently elected to serve on the board of the Chicago District Golf Association at the CDGA's annual meeting held at the new Midwest Golf House in Lemont, Illinois on October 17.

Mobley, the only female elected to this year's board, will serve as a representative for Sand Creek Country Club on behalf of the CDGA.

The Chicago District Golf Association is a not-for-profit association of member clubs located in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The organization, which as founded in 1914, is directed by amateur golfers and operated solely to provide services and promote the sport of golf within the District.

Mobley will be serving on the Tournament Policy committee which establishes policies for all CDGA events including the Illinois State Amateur, Senior Amateur, Mid-Amateur, and Pub Links; the CDGA Amateur; and the LaSalle Bank Chicago Open. She will also be working with the CDGA Foundation, a charitable arm of the CDGA, and assisting with golf programs for children at risk and individuals with disabilities.

Mobley graduated from New Mexico State University, earning a Bachelor of Administration degree in International Business and also a MBA in Marketing. She was an Academic-All American and received a scholarship to compete on the NMSU women's golf team. Kelle is the 1984 and 1986 champion of the Women's West Texas Golf Championship.

Mobley began her career at the Tournament Players Club of Connecticut and has worked as an executive recruiter and marketing consultant before becoming Vice President of Desert Springs Company, a family-owned golf management company.

Through Desert Springs, Kelle has conducted feasibility studies for several municipalities including the City of Hammond, Elkhart and Gary, Indiana. Kelle was a member of the City of Hammond's development team that planned the building of the first public golf course in Hammond on a brownfield redevelopment site. The Hammond Youth Golf Academy at Lost Marsh, completed in 1998, is one of the first models of the World Golf Foundation's "First Tee" program and has received national recognition for its emphasis on affordable golf and the construction of a complete nine-hole golf course and clubhouse exclusively for children.

Mobley began her work with Lake Erie Land Company as a Project Coordinator in 1996. Prior to this, she served as Director of Membership Services for Sand Creek Country Club. She was the Tournament Director of the Northern Amateur at Sand Creek from 1992 through 2001.

Mobley is excited about serving as a "Blue Coat" as the board members are referred, "especially now that Sand Creek and LEL have shifted their efforts to junior golf. It's a great opportunity to work in conjunction with the CDGA as we develop these new programs for children. The timing is perfect."

The CDGA provides many services to the game of golf. Among these are interpretation of the Rules of Golf, processing of applications for reinstatement of amateur status, handicap administration, tournament programs, course measuring, course and Slope ratings, and educational programs. There are a total of 340 CDGA member clubs, consisting of 100,000 individual members.
